Eagle 188 Airless Gouging Rod | Cutting & Gouging Without Air

Eagle 188 is recommended for:

It can be used for cutting and gouging on cast iron, steel, stainless steel and other non-ferrous metals.

Point the electrode in the direction of travel and hold it at approximately a 10°–20° angle.

Strike the arc and push the electrode forward using a short sawing motion to remove the required material. For best control, limit the depth of each groove to approximately half the electrode diameter.

Eagle 188 is a high-quality gouging electrode designed to operate without compressed air or oxygen.

Its special coating allows the depth and width of the groove to be easily controlled while producing a smooth cut with easily removable slag. It can be used effectively in all positions and on welding machines with sufficient output.

A 1/8" electrode at approximately 200 amps can produce a groove roughly 1/8" deep per pass, making it a very practical repair-preparation tool for field welders and maintenance shops.
