Premium 316 Stainless Electrode for Corrosion-Resistant Welding

Eagle 316L-16 is a premium low-carbon stainless steel electrode designed for welding Type 316 chromium-nickel stainless steel.

Its weld deposit contains approximately 2–3% molybdenum, which helps improve resistance to localized corrosion and pitting in more aggressive service environments.

Eagle 316L-16 is a strong choice for stainless fabrication, repair and maintenance applications where corrosion resistance is especially important. It is certified by CWB to CSA W48.

Corrosion Resistant. Strong. Built for 316 Stainless.

Eagle 316L-16 is recommended for:

Type 316 stainless steel
Corrosion-resistant stainless fabrication
Stainless steel repair
Chemical processing equipment
Marine and moisture-exposed applications
Industrial maintenance
Stainless piping and tanks
All-position stainless welding

Designed for applications where improved resistance to pitting and corrosive environments is required.

Use AC or DC Reverse [+] Polarity.
Clean weld areas thoroughly with a grinder or stainless steel wire brush.

Remove cracks or damaged material where required. Eagle 188 airless gouging electrodes may be used for weld preparation.

Maintain a short arc length and use stringer beads for best results.

Eagle 316L-16 is a low-carbon stainless steel electrode designed for welding Type 316 chromium-nickel stainless steel.

The alloy contains approximately 2–3% molybdenum in addition to chromium and nickel. Molybdenum improves resistance to localized corrosion, particularly pitting, making 316-type stainless suitable for more demanding corrosive service than many common 300-series stainless grades.

Why Eagle 316L-16?

Improved corrosion resistance β€” molybdenum helps resist pitting in aggressive environments.

Designed for 316 stainless β€” ideal for welding Type 316 chromium-nickel stainless steel.

Strong mechanical properties β€” approximately 86,500 psi tensile strength and 40% elongation.

All-position performance β€” suitable for flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead welding.

AC or DC capability β€” works with a wide range of welding power sources.

316L-16, 308L-16 or 309L-16?

Choose Eagle 316L-16 when welding 316 stainless steel and corrosion resistance is the priority.

Choose Eagle 308L-16 when welding common 300-series stainless steels such as 304 to themselves.

Choose Eagle 309L-16 when joining stainless steel to carbon steel or other dissimilar steels.

In simple terms:
316L-16 = 316 stainless / higher corrosion resistance
308L-16 = standard stainless-to-stainless
309L-16 = stainless-to-carbon steel / dissimilar metals
