Work-Hardening Electrode for Joining and Rebuilding Manganese Steel

Eagle 614 is a high-chromium, high-manganese welding electrode developed for joining and build-up of manganese and carbon steels. It produces a tough, porosity-resistant deposit that remains relatively soft as welded and then work-hardens in service under repeated impact and compression.

With a hardness of approximately 200 BH as deposited and up to 450 BH after work hardening, Eagle 614 is an excellent choice for repairing and rebuilding high-manganese wear components exposed to crushing, pounding and repeated impact.

Ideal for mining, aggregate, crushing and heavy equipment applications, Eagle 614 is commonly used on crusher rolls, manganese hammers, rail frogs, shovel pads, dredge pump parts, crusher jaws, dipper lids and manganese teeth.

Tough When Welded. Harder in Service.

Eagle 614 is recommended for:

Crusher rolls
Manganese hammers
Rail frogs
Shovel pads
Dredge pump parts
Crusher jaws
Dipper lids
Manganese teeth
High-manganese wear components
Joining manganese steel to carbon steel

Designed for build-up and joining of manganese steels in high-impact service.

Clean the weld area thoroughly and remove fatigued or damaged metal before welding. Use grinding where practical, or Eagle 188 airless gouging electrodes where additional material removal is required.

Use the lowest effective amperage while maintaining a medium arc length. Apply stringer beads to help reduce heat input, which is particularly important when welding manganese steel.

Eagle 614 is a high-chromium, high-manganese alloy electrode designed for joining and build-up of manganese and carbon steels.

When used as a joining alloy, it produces a high-strength, porosity-resistant weld deposit. Its work-hardening characteristics make it especially valuable for components exposed to repeated impact, crushing and compressive loading.

Why Eagle 614?

Designed for manganese steel — developed specifically for joining and rebuilding high-manganese components.
Work-hardening deposit — approximately 200 BH as welded and up to 450 BH after work hardening.

Excellent impact performance — ideal for crusher jaws, manganese hammers, rail frogs and other components subjected to repeated pounding and crushing.

Joining and build-up capability — useful both for restoring worn manganese components and joining manganese steel to carbon steel.

614 or 541GL?

Choose Eagle 614 when you want a stick electrode for joining and rebuilding manganese steel, especially for repair work where portability and simplicity matter.

Choose Eagle 541GL when you want the productivity of a self-shielded flux-cored wire for larger manganese build-up jobs.

In simple terms:
614 = stick electrode for manganese joining and build-up
541GL = gasless wire for higher-productivity manganese build-up
