High-Strength Aluminum-Silicon Filler for 6XXX-Series Aluminum

Eagle ER4943 is a high-performance aluminum-silicon filler alloy designed to provide higher post-weld strength than ER4043 while maintaining excellent weldability.

It is especially well suited for 6061, 6063 and other heat-treatable 6XXX-series aluminum alloys, where improved mechanical performance is desired without giving up the smooth flow and crack resistance associated with silicon-bearing fillers.

ER4943 can be used in both MIG and TIG processes and is a strong choice for structural aluminum, automotive components, heat exchangers, bicycle frames and other demanding fabrication applications.

Designed for applications where higher joint strength is required than with ER4043 while maintaining good fluidity and crack resistance.

Clean the weld area thoroughly before welding.

Remove oil, grease, lubricants, coatings, dirt and aluminum oxide from the surface.

Use a dedicated stainless steel wire brush for oxide removal and keep it reserved for aluminum only.

For MIG applications, use 100% Argon shielding gas and DC Reverse [+] / DCEP polarity.

For TIG applications, use 100% Argon shielding gas and AC current.

Adjust amperage, voltage, travel speed and gas flow according to material thickness, joint design and process.

Eagle ER4943 is an aluminum-silicon filler alloy with magnesium additions that improve its mechanical properties and heat-treatment response.

Compared with ER4043, ER4943 is designed to provide higher tensile strength after aging while retaining similar weldability, good fluidity and reduced hot-cracking tendency.
