Designed for air carbon arc cutting and gouging where fast, controlled metal removal is required.

DC Reverse [+] Polarity

The air carbon arc process works by striking an arc between the workpiece and the gouging carbon while directing compressed air at the arc. The arc melts the base metal and the air stream blows the molten metal away from the groove.

Maintain approximately 80–100 psi air pressure and direct the air stream so it effectively removes molten metal from the weld zone. Adjust electrode angle, amperage and travel speed to control groove width and depth.

Eagle Copper-Coated Gouging Carbons are manufactured with high density and uniform properties to provide excellent arc stability and clean, consistent gouges.

The copper coating helps improve current transfer and electrode performance during high-amperage gouging applications.

Gouging Carbons or Eagle 188?

Choose Eagle Gouging Carbons when you have a proper compressed-air setup and want fast, high-production metal removal on larger gouging jobs.

Choose Eagle 188 when portability matters and you want to gouge without compressed air or oxygen, particularly for mobile repairs, field work or smaller crack-removal jobs. Eagle 188 only requires a suitable welding power source and electrode holder.
