Harder Machinable Nickel-Base Spray Powder for Build-Up and Underlay

Eagle P-44 is a tough nickel-base spray powder designed for build-up, dimensional restoration and hardfacing underlay applications on steels, nickel alloys and cast iron.

It is well suited for rebuilding worn components such as bushings, keyways, gear teeth, sprocket teeth, cams, rollers, glass molds, plastic molds, patterns, brick molds and debarker knives.

With a hardness of approximately 37–40 HRC, Eagle P-44 provides a significantly harder machinable build-up than softer restoration powders while still maintaining excellent machinability.

Harder Build-Up. Fully Machinable. Built for Restoration.

Eagle P-44 Specification Sheet

Eagle P-44 is recommended for:

Bushings
Keyways
Gear teeth
Sprocket teeth
Cams
Rollers
Glass molds
Plastic molds
Patterns
Brick molds
Debarker knives
Steel components
Nickel alloys
Cast iron
Hardfacing underlay
Dimensional restoration

Designed for applications where a harder machinable build-up deposit is required.

Clean the surface thoroughly and remove oil, grease and scale.

Use a grinder to remove oxides where required.

Preheat the base metal to approximately 400°F.

Use a 1–1½" slightly carburizing flame and pre-spray the area to approximately 0.004" thickness.

Release the feed lever and heat until a sweating action occurs.

Weave the torch and add Eagle P-44 powder until the required dimension is achieved.

Allow the component to cool slowly.

Eagle P-44 is a tough nickel-base spray powder designed for machinable build-up on steels, nickel alloys and cast iron.
The alloy produces a deposit of approximately 37–40 HRC while maintaining excellent machinability and weldability. It can also be used as an underlay beneath harder hardfacing overlays.

Why Eagle P-44?

Harder machinable build-up — approximately 37–40 HRC.
Excellent machinability — allows rebuilt surfaces to be finished back to dimension.

Versatile base-metal compatibility — suitable for steels, nickel alloys and cast iron.

Hardfacing underlay — provides a solid intermediate layer beneath harder wear-resistant overlays.

Component restoration — ideal for gears, sprockets, bushings, rollers and similar worn parts.

P-44 or P-33?

This comparison is definitely worth adding.

Choose Eagle P-33 when you want a softer, very machinable build-up, approximately 15–20 HRC.

Choose Eagle P-44 when you want a harder machinable build-up, approximately 37–40 HRC.

In simple terms:
P-33 = softer machinable build-up
P-44 = harder machinable build-up
