Tungsten Carbide Spray Powder for Severe Abrasion and High-Heat Wear

Eagle P-66 is a high-quality tungsten carbide spray powder in a tough nickel-base matrix, designed for severe abrasive wear, high-heat service and edge build-up applications.

It is well suited for hardfacing components such as mixer paddles, pug mill knives, augers, cultivator shovels, ash chutes, chains, hog hammers, guide nozzles, plungers, valves and debarker knives.

With a hardness of approximately 60–64 HRC, Eagle P-66 provides a hard, wear-resistant coating for steels, nickel alloys and cast iron, while also resisting the softening effects of elevated heat.

High Hardness. High-Heat Resistance. Excellent Edge Build-Up.

Eagle P-66 Specification Sheet

Eagle P-66 is recommended for:

Mixer paddles
Pug mill knives
Augers
Cultivator shovels
Ash chutes
Chains
Hog hammers
Guide nozzles
Plungers
Valves
Debarker knives
Steel components
Nickel-alloy components
Cast iron
High-heat wear applications
Edge build-up applications

Designed for applications where severe abrasion, elevated heat and edge retention are important.

Clean the surface thoroughly and remove oil, grease and scale.

Use a grinder to remove oxides where required.
Preheat the base metal to approximately 400°F.

Use a 1–1½" slightly carburizing flame and pre-spray the area to approximately 0.005" thickness.

Release the feed lever and heat until a sweating action occurs.

Weave the torch and add Eagle P-66 powder until the required dimension is achieved.

Allow the component to cool slowly.

Eagle P-66 is a tungsten carbide spray powder in a tough nickel-base matrix designed for hardfacing steels, nickel alloys and cast iron.

The alloy produces a very hard wear-resistant deposit and is specifically noted for resisting the softening effects of high heat and providing excellent edge build-up.

Why Eagle P-66?

High hardness — approximately 60–64 HRC.
Tungsten carbide wear resistance — designed for severe abrasive service.

High-heat performance — resists softening when exposed to elevated temperatures.

Excellent edge build-up — useful on knives, edges and similar wear surfaces.

Broad base-metal compatibility — suitable for steels, nickel alloys and cast iron.

P-66 or P-22?

This comparison is useful because they are both tungsten-carbide powders at approximately 60–64 HRC.

P-22 = tungsten carbide severe-abrasion powder
P-66 = tungsten carbide severe-abrasion powder with published emphasis on high-heat resistance and excellent edge build-up

So the clean positioning is:
P-22 = severe abrasion
P-66 = severe abrasion + high heat + edge build-up
