It is particularly well suited to applications where low hydrogen, impact toughness and consistent mechanical properties are important.

Clean the joint area and remove excessive rust, oil, moisture, paint and other contaminants before welding.

Maintain proper electrode storage and handling practices to preserve the low-hydrogen characteristics of the electrode.
Use a short to moderate arc and maintain appropriate travel speed for the joint design and welding position.

Remove slag thoroughly between passes.

AC or DC+

For AC welding, a minimum open-circuit voltage of approximately 65 V.

ESAB OK 55.00 is an E7018-1 H4R carbon-manganese electrode with a basic coating designed for high-integrity structural welding.

Its combination of low diffusible hydrogen, strong mechanical properties and excellent low-temperature Charpy impact performance makes it particularly suitable for demanding fabrication.
